# siteBits > siteBits shows laser scans and drone captures in the browser: point clouds, panoramas of the scan positions, oriented photos, measurements and findings. It runs on a self-hosted platform with invitation-only accounts, passkey sign-in and roles per project. Open source under EUPL-1.2. Code name of the software: scanview. Status: in development, version 0.10.3, the first public release on GitHub (October 2026). Already in use on real scan projects. The interface is German; English is planned. Upload in the browser is planned. ## What it does - Viewer: point clouds in COPC with levels of detail, jumps between scan positions with panoramas, mesh layers, section box, top view and minimap. - Measure: distance, height, area, polyline. Layers state when a scale is not backed by evidence. - Mark: pins with notes, edit history of every change. - Photos: drone photos from a photogrammetric alignment, jump into the camera position, blend between photo and 3D. - Share: accounts by invitation, passkey sign-in (password as fallback), roles viewer, reporter and editor per project, export as CSV and JSON. - API: REST API under /api/v1 with OpenAPI description, personal API tokens. - AI: an MCP server lets AI assistants work with the rights of the user's own account. Data-saving by default: names become pseudonyms, free-text notes are not sent. Tool results go to the provider of the language model. ## How it works Laser scans (E57, LAS/LAZ), meshes (OBJ, PLY, glTF) and aligned drone photos are prepared once into a project package in open formats (COPC, glTF). A current browser with WebGL 2 and WebAssembly opens it without extra software. The platform runs on a Linux server behind Caddy and HTTPS. ## Sovereignty and security - Licence EUPL-1.2, source on GitHub (complete copy on own infrastructure): https://github.com/sitebits/sitebits - SBOM per release (CycloneDX 1.6 following BSI TR-03183-2), vulnerability scan, signed releases, public findings register. - Information following Annex II of the Cyber Resilience Act, coordinated vulnerability disclosure. ## For whom - 1.0: construction projects (in preparation). - 1.1: heritage conservation and universities (next). ## About Made by André Stiebitz, Potsdam, together with AI assistants.
